In 2008, Dr. Ani Hawkinson, cross-cultural educator, linguist, and licensed naturopathic physician, founded HeartSong Health In Community, Inc., a tax-exempt 501(c)(3)nonprofit health care organization committed to helping create self-sustaining, inclusive communities where all members enjoy perfect integral health – a dynamic state of physiological, psychological and spiritual resilience that empowers people to adapt and grow, to heal themselves and others, to protect the environment,and to achieve their highest potential.
HeartSong promotes integral community health in multiple ways by providing physical, mental, emotional, ecological, social, cultural, and spiritual education and healt care, and by creating systems to ensure equal health care access to people of all ages, professions, and abilities, all lifestyles, faiths, and cultural traditions.
HeartSong offers naturopathic primary care medical services, interfacing with all medical specialists as needed, in order to ensure optimal care, and provides free community health education programs in various locations in Southern Vermont.
Dr. Hawkinson is a preferred provider for all Medicaid programs, including VHAP, Dr. Dynasaur and traditional medicaid. She is also a preferred provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, MVP and CIGNA
Dr. Ani serves as Medical Director and Resident Teacher for HeartSong Health In Community, Inc. A Kripalu yoga teacher, bodywork therapist, and Phoenix Rising Yoga therapist, Dr. Ani obtained her doctorate in naturopathic medicine at the University of Bridegport College of Naturopathic Medicine and graduated from the Kripalu School of Ayurveda. She has completed advanced training in homeopathy at the New England School of Homeopathy in Massachussettes, in the Enneagram at the Enneagram as an Oral Tradition in California, in biological medicine at the Paracelsus Medicine Biological Network, and in functional medicine throught the Functional Medicine University. She also completed two internships in bloodtype medicine at the D’Adamo Clinic under the supervision of Peter D’Adamo.
As a linguist and cross-cultural educator, Dr. Ani speaks French and Swahili. In addition to her work for HeartSong, she serves as adjunct faculty at Landmark College in Putney, Vermont, a college that provides higher education to students with learning disabilities, and at Kripalu School of Ayurveda in Lenox, Massachussetts.
